PA Housing – Resident Portal

We are Carbon3, the approved renewables contractor for PA Housing.

We will be removing your existing roof-integrated solar PV system, and replacing with an on-roof mounted solar
PV system including full tiling of the affected areas.

Sequence of Works

  1. PA Housing will be in contact to arrange access and installation dates.
  2. Scaffolding will be erected. Please note that if your existing system is located on the rear of your property, we will need access to your garden.
  3. Existing solar PV system will be disconnected, removed, and the area will be tiled in.
Should this stage occur across multiple days, the removal area will be made weatherproof until the tiling has been completed. Brackets for the on-roof mounted system will be installed in conjunction with the tiling.
  4. On-roof mounted solar PV installation will be completed at roof level.
  5. We will require internal access to your property to complete the internal solar PV installation including inverter replacement and commissioning of your new system.
  6. Scaffolding will be removed.
  7. O&M will be issued to PA Housing with all necessary information about your new system.
Please note: Due to the sequence of the scaffolding installations, works may be completed at roof level in advance of internal works, however this will all be scheduled and arranged with you ahead.
We will knock on your door ahead of carrying out the works at roof level. If you are not in, we will proceed with works and ensure a card is left to notify you.
Your solar PV system will be left automatically generating once commissioning is complete – the system must not be tampered with, and requires no action from you.

Getting prepared for the installation – what we need from you:

  • Access to the solar PV location for scaffolding.
  • Internal access required for 1-2 days to remove existing PV components, replace with our new system and commission the solar PV system. The key areas we will be working are in the loft and by the consumer unit location. Cable runs will be determined on the visit and completed between the loft and consumer unit.
  • Loft area to be accessible and cleared ahead of the internal access appointment – the new inverters will need to be installed adjacent to the loft entrance so please leave this clear.

Where can you find us?

Jay and team will be located at the site office in
Longden Avenue. See location to the left.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) – How it Works:

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems are designed to create electricity. The amount of electricity created will depend on many variants, the main ones being shading, orientation, angle of modules etc.

Electricity is produced from sun light in the form of a DC current, which is then converted into an AC current via the inverter, which is useable within your current electricity system. This electricity is then fed back into the distribution board and used within your building. This will reduce the energy used from the national grid thus reducing fuel bills and CO2 emission. Any surplus electricity will be fed back into the national grid (exported).

The electricity created by the PV system will be monitored and a reading will be available from the energy meter, this measurement is in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Once the system has been fully commissioned  electricity will be produced automatically. The system can be checked for correct operation by monitoring the lights displayed on the inverter (see O&M manual upon completion).
