New Build Construction.
Build for the future with integrated renewables.
At design stage for a new housing development is the time to build in sustainability. By integrating solar PV, air source heat pumps (ASHPs), EV chargers, battery storage and smart controls from day one, you create low-carbon, energy-efficient homes that meet regulations, deliver long-term savings, and appeal to modern buyers.
Carbon3 offers developers a turnkey service from design support to installation, monitoring and ongoing maintenance. We ensure your new build stands out for quality, compliance, and sustainability.
Solar Integrated at Build Stage.
With building regulations tightening and rooftop solar expected to become standard on all new homes, integrating your energy infrastructure early ensures smooth compliance with Part L, the Future Homes Standard and emerging local planning requirements.
By embedding solar photovoltaic (PV), heat pumps, and EV charge points from the outset, you avoid costly retrofit work later and reduce compliance risk for your development.
Installing solar panels at build stage allows seamless integration, as in-roof or roof-mounted PV can be designed to suit roof geometry, orientation, and building layout. That avoids the problems of retrofit, providing better aesthetics, optimised energy yield and simpler wiring.
Low-Carbon Heating for New Builds.
As new build developers cannot install natural gas boilers as of 2025, most developers choose ASHPs as the best low-carbon alternative. They work best with underfloor heating, and modern insulation, providing homeowners with lower running costs.
Heat pumps are also a great choice to meet Future Homes Standard and meet net zero targets as they can run using electricity generated by solar PV. This will see a much lower reliance on carbon-based fuel in the home.
There is also significant research pointing to heat pumps as keeping homes from developing damp and mould due to keeping homes a consistent temperature. Due to Awaab’s Law coming into effect in 2025, this is important when building new homes that will then be designated for social housing.
Part S Compliance with EV Chargers.
Part S regulations mean all new homes must be built with EV chargers installed. Most homeowners also look for homes with existing infrastructure for EVs as they continue to be a popular choice due to lower running costs than fuel cars.
At Carbon3 we can install all the renewable measures your development needs concurrently, and wire chargers into the solar PV generation, giving homebuyers the ability to charge their cars using free solar electricity.
Provide your buyers with another incentive without the cost. Using the EV Infrastructure Grant, you can install up to 200 charge points per year with a £350 or 75% discount.
Improve EPC with Battery Storage.
Installing battery storage, especially when combined with solar, improves your homes’ EPC ratings, as they contribute to the SAP score. Better EPC ratings often lead to homes having a higher value as consumers become more environmentally conscious. It also helps you meet your Part L regulations.
For homebuyers, the value is high. Battery storage when coupled with solar gives them access to free energy even when the panels are not generating, which they can deploy at peak times to avoid peak grid tariffs.
Design Services.
Our in-house design team develops complete energy strategies for each development, tailored to meet your regulatory and accreditation goals, including BREEAM, Part L, Part S, PassivHaus and any additional standards you’re targeting.
We work with major national housebuilders as well as bespoke developers, so we understand how to integrate renewable technologies smoothly, efficiently and in a way that supports your compliance pathway.
We also support architects with standalone design services. If you’re finding it difficult to achieve the results you want with renewables, our team can step in, optimise the design and help you reach the performance outcomes you need.
Impress homebuyers with quality installations.
We know that you’re expecting a high-quality renewable solution to attract the next generation of eco-conscious homebuyers, and that’s why our Quality Supervisors regularly check in with our engineers during installations to keep everything on track.
From ensuring health and safety standards are met to making sure every detail matches the design, these audits help us deliver the reliable systems you can expect.
Our clients benefit from our approved supply chain, with parts regularly tested for quality and durability. Our parts are stocked in Carbon3 warehouses in the UK, to ensure decarbonisation projects avoid transport delays to meet your specified deadlines.

Frequently Asked Questions.
If you can’t find the answers you need here, please contact our friendly team contact us.
Will renewable technologies help my development meet upcoming regulations like the Future Homes Standard or Part L updates?
Yes. Early adoption of solar PV and low-carbon heating helps meet proposed regulatory requirements and improves SAP scores.
Are solar PV and heat pumps big benefits for homebuyers?
Yes. According to industry modelling, combining solar, heat pumps, and battery storage can save a typical household over £1,300 per year. That’s often worth it to homebuyers to pay more than they would for a home without renewable energy.
Can roof orientation, shading or layout make solar installations difficult?
Early-stage design allows for solar-compatible orientation and layout. If roof constraints remain, we will advise on optimal alternatives.
Will installing renewable measures interrupt the build program?
While installing renewables may slow a build process, we will work with you, your site team, and any other contractors on site to ensure this is kept to a minimum.
Do I need planning permission or regulatory approval for solar PV or other renewables on a new build development?
While you won’t need planning permission, you will require DNO approval to allow your future homebuyers to export to the grid. We will organise the application on your behalf.
What warranties, aftercare and maintenance do renewables require?
At Carbon3 we provide industry leading warranties and 24/7 aftercare if needed. We can provide ongoing maintenance for each technology to ensure your buyers are getting the most out of their systems.
How do renewables contribute to EPC and SAP compliance scores, and does that matter for resale or future regulations?
Solar PV, battery storage and low-carbon heating like heat pumps all improve a building’s SAP score, leading to better EPC ratings. Better EPC ratings can make a home’s value increase. While EPC C+ isn’t a current legal requirement, we anticipate regulations will change by 2030 to push towards net zero.
Can new homebuyers access SEG?
Yes, please provide your new homebuyers with the install’s MCS certificate and DNO approval – which we will apply for on your behalf – to allow them to apply for SEG.
