Context
Our client is one of the UK’s leading homebuilders, delivering new build homes across mixed-tenure developments, including major schemes supported by Homes England. As part of their drive to meet Part L and wider sustainability targets, our client required a dependable renewable energy partner who could deliver high-quality solar PV at scale while also improving aftercare performance across their sites.
Carbon3 was appointed to support our client across eleven completed site phases, with two further phases scheduled. Over the last two years, we have installed more than 1.7MW of rooftop solar across 942 homes and three apartment buildings, consistently outperforming other installers on aftercare response times, quality and customer satisfaction.
Challenge
Our client needed a partner capable of delivering large volumes of solar PV across multiple phases and regions, with consistent quality and minimal disruption to build programmes. Previous installations delivered by other contractors had resulted in variations in quality and higher than acceptable levels of customer care queries. Our client also required support for their Homes England schemes, a structured approach to O&M, and proactive guidance for both site teams and sales staff.
Carbon3’s Solution
Carbon3 provided a full end-to-end service covering design, installation, O&M and aftersales. All sites began with detailed technical surveys and design reviews to ensure accuracy, minimise variations and reduce delays at construction stage. Our approach also included improvements to roof flashing details and installation sequencing, significantly reducing customer care complaints.
A dedicated aftersales team manages all post-handover support, covering a full two-year defect period. Our proactive response model has helped our client achieve higher aftercare scores compared to other solar installers working across their developments.
Sales teams are also supported with training, handover materials and technical guidance, helping buyers understand their technology and upgrade options such as battery storage.
Impact
Across eleven phases delivered to date, Carbon3 has installed 1,712.27 kWp of solar PV across 942 plots and three apartment blocks. Two further phases are already scheduled. The combination of detailed design, installation consistency and structured aftercare has improved satisfaction levels across sites, reduced complaints, and contributed to smoother build programmes.
