Overview
A secure government training site in Wiltshire has strengthened its renewable energy strategy with the installation of a 384.42 kWp rooftop solar PV system delivered by Carbon3. The new system complements an existing ground-mounted solar farm, further reducing the site’s carbon footprint and energy costs.
Project Background
As part of the UK Government’s commitment to decarbonising its estate, this high-security facility required a trusted partner to deliver renewable infrastructure safely and efficiently. Carbon3 was appointed to design, install, and commission a rooftop solar system that aligned with the site’s operational and security requirements.
Given the sensitive nature of the facility, careful coordination with on-site teams was essential to ensure all works were delivered securely and without disruption to daily operations.
Delivery
Carbon3 designed and installed a 384.42 kWp system using high-efficiency modules to maximise on-site generation. All works were completed by our directly employed engineers, fully trained and DBS checked to meet the facility’s access and safeguarding standards.
Strict health and safety protocols were observed throughout, with detailed risk assessments, method statements, and daily briefings ensuring full compliance with the site’s security procedures.
Results
The new solar array generates renewable energy directly for the facility, delivering annual energy cost savings of over £90,000 and achieving a payback period of just 2.24 years at 100% self-consumption.
The installation not only enhances the site’s operational resilience but also contributes to the wider government target of achieving net zero emissions across the public estate.
Summary
This project demonstrates how renewable energy can be successfully integrated into secure and operationally sensitive environments when delivered by experienced, accredited partners. Contact us to find out more.
